The Rome Fellowship in Landscape Architecture is being offered to a recent graduate or individual in mid-career to allow a period for thought and research. The applicant should propose a contemporary response to an aspect of Italian landscape and pursue a selected topic with direct bearing on modern design in the landscape.

Young landscape architects are invited by the International Federation of Landscape Architects to apply for this residency at the British School at Rome, which will offer a valuable opportunity to develop and research work within the context of Rome and Italy. Details about the British School at Rome are available at www.bsr.ac.uk

The Fellowship offers:

 full board and lodging at the British School at Rome (BSR) for three months (January 2nd to March 29th 2012), in a study bedroom with free 24hour access to the internet

 a grant of €750 per month for expenses

 economy class return travel from the fellow’s current place of residence to and from Rome (open ticket)

 health insurance for the three month residency

 though technical facilities and support are limited, BSR staff are on hand to give advice and to assist fellows to gain access to sites not normally open to public access

 have a qualification in landscape architecture and at least one year post-graduate experience, either in a landscape workplace or as a PhD student or part-time lecturer in landscape studies

 be younger than 35 years old on January 1st 2012

 be a student or full member of an IFLA Member Association; however if the applicant is a bona fide student or practitioner of landscape architecture from a country which is not an IFLA member, individual membership of IFLA for three years would be a condition of being awarded the fellowship.
